PC - BIMcloud 2024.3 update - connectivity issues

Richard Molnar
Booster

Hi All,

Not sure if it is a unique problem, or if others suffer the same so I thought I should share it.

Last week I installed the latest BIMcloud update (2024.3 for BIMcloud Basic for Archicad 24 & 25 & 26) on our Server PC which is a Windows 10 Pro Desktop PC. The BIMcloud was working fine until the PC was shut down for a couple of minutes on Monday (28/10/2024). Ever since the server was restarted the BIMcloud server is mostly not accessible and on rare occasions when it is accessible it is extremely slow until it loses the connection with the BIMcloud server.

I did the following:

-Made sure that the ports are open;

-ping-ed the server and had no issues at all;

-Ran the update to repair the installations;

-Checked if the services are running and are automatic in the Windows services window;

-Restarted and also properly shut down the server, then started again;

-When I was able to log into the website of the server I saw no notifications (but a proper search was not possible as it shortly lost connection);

After restarting the PC or running the repair it was accessible for a short while. Occasionally the diagnostic returns with a message that says "The selected BIMcloud is online but not responding, please try again later.".

We never had such a problem before in the more than 2 years since BIMcloud Basic for AC26 started to run.

I am running out of ideas and started to worry as we have a couple of urgent projects running on the BIMcloud server and an awful lot of projects (on 24 and 25 as well) that we didn't have the chance yet to save an archive file.

I am hoping that somebody had similar issues and was able to solve them.

Tried to turn off windows Defender (or the anti-virus software you are using)?

Dear Boldizsar,

Thank you for your reply. It turned out to be a hardware failure due to the HDD getting bad sectors.
We recovered the data and moved everything to a new HDD giving it the same name and drive letter, but no luck.

I am waiting for the reply from Graphisoft support as they said they could try to fix the database files in the MongoDB folder.

I hope that it will fix our issue.

Dear Torben,

Thank you for your reply.

I tried that as well, but didn't change anything. Besides, the BIMcloud Basic servers were working fine with the defender on for a couple of years.

Although I find it strange that the inbound rules are getting new entries every time I run the updater to repair and the new rules are all blocking the BIMcloud files. I changed them, but that shouldn't affect the port that is open for the server and manager.
