We've upgraded the operating system on our Teamwork Server (for Archicad 15) from Windows XP to Windows 8. Now when I attempt to reinstall the Graphisoft BIM Server to get Teamwork, it gets about 16% into the installation process and errors out with the message, "Graphisoft BIM Server registering has failed".
I've tried uninstalling and restarting. I've gone through the checklist here: http://www.archicadwiki.com/Teamwork/BimServerConfiguration
including disabling the virus checker, setting up a static IP, and opening the required ports on the firewall, along with the other listed ideas for LAN installations.
The only thing I can think of is that I might not have run the uninstall of the Teamwork server, before I installed the new operating system and overwrote everything. Does Graphisoft keep a list of which machines the Teamwork Servers are installed on, and check against that list when you try to reinstall it (in my case, on the same machine)? If so, is there a way to deactivate the first registration, so that the new installation will complete?
Java causes far too many problems with ArchiCAD. It is time Graphisoft used a different system for their installers. No other software manufacturer seems to have these problems!
