Hi everyone, I am considering doing the conversion of our permanent licenses (with SSA) over to the new Archicad Collaborate and make use of the Bimcloud SaaS instead of using BimCloud Basic on our server here at the office. However, I am concerned about the real-life speed of network-interaction actions such as:
We are used to the instantaneous reservation and very fast send/receive operation with our BimCloud Basic as we have a robust dedicated server and well-done internal LAN with Gigabit network speeds.
Even though we have pretty good symmetrical 300Mb/300Mb upload/download Internet service, I am concerned about the usage of the BimCloud SaaS being slower in practice than our local BimCloud Basic. I do expect there to be some lag since EVERY interaction (every reservation, etc.) has to go over internet traffic, I would like to get some feedback from other users that have made the change from BimCloud Basic over to BimCloud SaaS regarding real-life performance?
One of the advantages of the SaaS is that I don't have to be re-newing the Server every few years, and the cost of the server balances out a bit with the extra expense of the SaaS, but if the performance is not good, then that advantage goes away.
Feedback please.

You can set the location for where Sharepoint syncs to so that it is consistent accross users. Having it external to the user folder also means that it can be accessible by different users on the same computer. From memory, the only way to access a user folder that you do not own on Windows is to be an admin, while for external folders you can set up permissions as you see fit. If you have computers with different number of harddrives, your IT can sort out partitions to make them match if you do not want it stored on C.

Network mapping of Sharepoint folders was depreciated several years ago when Edge came out, and now that IE11 of which it was built on is no longer supported, I did not think that it was still possible to do.
Are you guys still on Win10? Or have your IT people done some wizardry to keep it alive?

On further investigation I think I was using the wrong terminology saying it is a network drive. We have a separate parent listed in window explorer that contain our sharepoint drives. If I click on a file then the address, the path reverts to my user folder. I guess a type of shortcut that doesn't require us looking through user folder to find it for quick access.
But separate to this, the other shortcut we have that lives on each persons C drive solves the problem of paths for publishing sets and hotlink containing usernames. I will report back if i find out more.

Thanks Mark - we are Mac based but the shortcut may offer a good work around - will have a look into it over Christmas!

Thanks Ling - hadn't thought about moving the Sharepoint sync base location - will have a look at this as an option!

Do note that moving it after the fact will require a full resync.
