Exploded diagrams are a powerful way to present floor layouts, zoning, and structure in 3D, all within Archicad. Here is a simple workflow to create them from a single model view.
Start in your 3D Projection Settings and switch to an isometric (axonometric) view.
Rotate the camera to find the clearest angle for your project.
Adjust the sun position if you want shadows that add depth to the geometry.
Simplify the scene by hiding unnecessary elements: select them, right-click, and choose Hide Selection.
Use 3D Cutaways or Filter and Cut elements in 3D for more precise control.
Set the filter to Limited to target specific story ranges.
Click Trim Elements to Story Range so each floor becomes its own clean slice of the model.
Adjust the cutting planes as needed to remove any overlap.
Customize the look using graphic styles in the 3D Document Settings.
Apply Graphical Overrides to distinguish between structure, program, and envelope.
Add 2D annotations like labels, dimensions, fills, and arrows directly on the document to improve clarity.
If you add new elements (like 3D text arrows) in the source view, use Redefine based on current 3D window to update your 3D Documents while keeping the angle locked.
Place each 3D Document onto a layout sheet.
Align the views vertically so they stack properly.
