I know this will sound very cheeky but is there a "student" version of dwight's book on lightworks for us poor students who struggle to afford books and pay bills???

You are well within your rights to tell me to bugger off and not be so tight...

Thanks,

Mark

So, Dwight, do I buy your book from ObjectsOnline.com? or directly by sending money to your Paypal account? Does the $115 cover shipping to me?

PS Your book does go beyond the obvious, right? I mean, explain things in a non-jargon manner. I am tech-savvy (I think, anyway) but I much prefer to 'feel' the rendering process. ArchiCAD's dialogs and terms in the LW interface do not encourage this.

Get it from me. All the way to anywhere for US$115.

My book will help you understand the rendering process AND provide several recipies for interior and exterior LightWorks solutions.

I hate jargon, but yes, the terms in the LightWorks material dialog are geeky AND obtuse. For instance, why does LightWorks name the Emission Class of Shaders after that surfing beach in Hawaii?

OK, just sent you the $$. Can I have the spiral-bound book which opens flat nicely? Don't know if you also print another version, so I thought I'd mention.

Many thanks, looking forward to getting my hands on it.

His book goes WAY beyond the obvious, into the realm of "an infinite number of monkeys using Lightworks would never find it."

Ha-ha!

Although, on a more serious note, I'm sure that no number of monkeys over any amount of time would ever find anything more complicated than how to peel a few bananas.

Oh, and maybe eat them.

I bought this book - I was looking for examples regarding rendering, night , day, winter, summer ++ settings - but what I did learned was makeing a candlelight - and that´s okey - but not what I was looking for..sorry.

I sell it for half the price included P&P.

Thanks..

I apologize that a reader is disappointed with my book. At half price, it is a bargain. I still have several new copies that aren't covered in coffee stains and gravlaks.

It is correct that there is no exterior setup specifically addressing night renderings, altho i feel obliged to repel the inaccuracy that there are no examples of rendering settings. There are several, and they address the step-by-step illumination of a large dwelling and a large commercial structure. There are also several interior articles that solve the majority of lighting challenges in LightWorks. This approach intends to develop insight applying photographic lighting principles to the variety of situations Archicad illustrators will experience.
Any user with aptitude could take the numerous lighting tests in that book and successfully apply them to facade night lighting.

AND also get a detailed treatise on candle light that provides insight into many other low lighting situations.

And before you sell the book, look on page 100 for examples of how to get the plasticlook - the Phong shader and the Translucent plastic shader could get you started.

Well he did sell the book, and I bought it. An jolly good it is, too, IMHO.

I regret to report that I do have one gripe.

Despite having responded to my 'registration' of my ownership of the publication, Dwight has not been responding to my repeated email requests to provide me with the necessary info so that I might access the necessary resources to enable me to undertake the multitude of enlightening 'exercises' he includes in the book. (Caveat emptor?)

Come on, Dwight, please, please, let me know where I can get this stuff!!
