FULL IMPLEMENTATION OF LIGHTWORKS NOW!!!!

I think that Graphisoft should completely implement the LightWorks Rendering features in Archicad.

Do you agree?

Certainly I have put on a few pounds this year, but I resent being called "thick Dwight." the excess is there, allright, but not jiggly, yet.

The Displacement Shaders you refer to are "Wrapped Dimple" and "Wrapped Knurl." These shaders are illlustrated with one entire column in my book (page 103), which is about what they deserve considering that real knurling is diamond-shaped and wraps diagonally and the Dimpling is harsh, having poor roll-over at the base of each dimple.

These shaders are like certain "forms+surfaces" products: those shiny embossed panels for cheesy interiors.

Another drawback to these displacement shaders is that they present such apparent depth it is disappointing to come to the edge of an object and see its sharp, flat edge slicing through bulgy dimples - an illusion ruined.

... I beg Your pardon for the "thick Dwight" - of course I mean "big-great-book" 🙂 (I've edited my previous post).

The shader is Wrapped Knurl only, in few variations.
Detailed shaders description is a subject for next two books for sure.

I think the same thing...
I would never said that those pictures were rendered wit LW

RS:

On your image array, the second one down on the left has bulbous dimples. Can you please post the wrapped knurl setting to get that?

This work is so good because he bought my book.

In describing shaders, readers of my book should flip through the shader illustrations with their Archicad open. Play with the settings to see reasonable variations.

Truth is that few users will bother with adjusting shaders. It is a HUGE topic and the time it takes to refine three or five shader combinations into a reasonable material effect is ENORMOUS.

Most professional users will continue to rely on existing material collections, largely texture maps, occasionally using the displacement shader to provide alpha channel relief. LightWorks can employ any image as an alpha channel to make surface relief.

If you bought and registered my book, it includes a download of all of the LightWorks Archive materials made into ArchiCAD Materials. While many of these are klunky textures, all users are advised to explore the LightWorks Archive accessed through the material dialog to discover additional sophisticated materials using both texture maps and shaders.

No problem. Especially for You I've used english Archicad version instead of polish 🙂
I made this after 20 minutes playing with parameters...

Thank you.

Maximum knurl blend = dimple.
