How to place a sky in Elevation/section

Hi,

I'd like to add sky to my elevations and sections whilst retaining the setting I'ce already chosen as shown in the screenshot below.

My section has quite a few curved elements which means that taking the drawing into photoshop to add a sky would be very time consuming and not that neat.

Is there a way that I can add a sky 'behind' my buildings etc. I've tried placing a custom picture but it doesn't show up in section as a image.

Thank You

You could always go ALL RENDERING with text overlay!

For that particular elevation....

1. Model in AC
2. In ARTLantis, create Rendered Elevation by adding trees / cars / sky / materials, etc.
3. Render at a fairly high resolution...
4. Back in AC, create same elevation so you can Stretch Rendering to proper size.
5. Place rendered elevation in AC, and size to match..
6. Add notes, dims, etc and adjust FRONT to BACK to hide what you need hide and show what needs to be shown.

I used WHITE text and notes as the colors were intense enough to have the white show thru better than black.

I've also done the same technique, but left the AC LINEWORK for the elevation showing on top. Looks more cartoony but it's effective.

Obviously this is a presentation technique and would require some effort to keep re-rendering as changes are made... There is no real LIVE LINK...

Aloha Stuart,
I want to create colored, shaded elevations like the ones that you show in this discussion. Can you give me a quick rundown of the elevation settings as well as the wall, column, roof, window settings so I can get started playing with colored elevations.
I also want to use these settings to create colored interior elevations so I can show my clients wall, finish and trim colors.
Thank you,
John

In the Section or Elevation settings under the Model Display tab set Uncut Elements > Fill Uncut Surfaces With: "Own material colour" (either shaded or unshaded depending on your requirements) and check the Vectorial 3D Hatching box to show fills which are assigned to each material (eg. vertical or horizontal lines for weatherboards / siding or corrugated roofing). Quick, automatic and always up to date.

Below is an Interior Elevation with "Own material colour (shaded)" which shows changes in wall plane reasonably well (right hand side).

Note that the images I used earlier were from the model window, and the orange linework would be darker black lines in my layouts by using different pen sets for model and layout views.
