LightWorks rendered AND scaled elevation

Is there a way to do a LightWorks rendered elevation and place it in the same manner you place any other drawing on a layout with its own title and scale?

You cannot put a rendered image directly onto a layout because it cannot be saved as a view. You could create and save a perspective or axonometric view of your model from which to generate the rendered image. Then copy and paste the render into a detail window (or a section window). This can then be placed on a layout and resized to suit the paper.

Unfortunately it would not be auto regenerating but still quite easy to update.

sounds simple enough...how about scaling though?

You can drag a Camera view into your View Map, then place it on a sheet. Since it's a raster image, it will not be to scale.

You can also use side axonometric views to give you an accurate elevations. The state of these views will be stored as to when you saved them.

As for the scale, this is a little tougher to get accurate. The size of an image straight from the OpenGL window is based on the size of the 3D window and the zoom level (how much of the 3D window the model uses). It is then calculated on the screen resolution when placed as a drawing on a layout. Since you're using lightworks, the size of the image is dependent on the size & resolution of the Photorendering as set in the Photorendering Settings.

There is still no exact way of scaling the image to the floor plan scale AFAIK. I am not exactly sure how the size of the photorender converts to layout units (I presume it is also calculated using the screen resolution), but you could probably change the Width/ Height/ Maginification/ Resolution of the resultant drawing, if you can't figure it out either.

Cheers,

In the past I have copied the image from the photorender window (using an axonometric side view) and pasted over the true elevation in the elevation window. This allows you to play around with the size of the rendered image until it matches the elevation scale. You need a fairly large image (plenty of pixels). You can also annotate the image and place a scale bar in the drawing if you need to.

Once the image appears at the correct size you can drag it to the side of the elevation into a clear drawing space and then publish the image and the elevation side by side or on separate sheets.

BTW methods have been devised for using both the image and the line work in photoshop to create very good looking composite views. Dwight has published many details on this subject.
