Has anyone used these before? When I try to load the shader, ArchiCAD freezes up.

Only the basic lwa archive files are compatible with the version of LW licensed by Graphisoft. Dwight has some posts on this, and I think a bit in his book?

I tested Flooring.lwa that is on your linked page and it is fine.
Generally, proprietary surfaces cannot be used in Archicad since there is no way to lock them. Imagine the lawsuit if some duffus edited a paint color at your office and didn't tell.....
As for crashing - that is odd. Are you putting your new .lwa archives in the folder with the ones already in Archicad?

Yes, I put them in the same folder as the other ones.
The one I tried was the KMEW Siding one which I guess would be proprietary. I'll try the flooring one and see how that goes. Big difference in file size too. The KMEW one is over 100 Mb.

Yep, the flooring one and some of the others are working fine.
