Maxwell render hardware usage question

Hey guys, i'm new to maxwell render and i just started using it this week.
My problem is that i don't understand how it uses the hardware in my computer.

Processor: 6 cores 3.2gHz
Ram: 18 Gb 1600MHz
graphic card: asus pcie gf engtx570 DCII 1280M BTE

with that said, when i start a render, my cpu usage is 100%
but my it is only using 3.5Gb of ram which represents a pretty low percentage of the total capacity

I was wandering if there was a way to make maxwell use all the 18gb of ram?

thank you

Hi Etienne,
I don't use Maxwell but Thea which is pretty similar, and in order to use 18Gb of Ram I'd say the scene you render should have at least 60-70mil polygons and some heavy duty textures.
Ram usage is based on polys count, texture sizes, rendering resolution and multiple lights buffers when using the multilight feature.
I've recently rendered a scene with 50mil polys @ 6400x3600px and memory usage went up to roughly 12Gb if I remember well.

Hope this clarifies the matter a little.

Cheers

i use maxwell, and my 8 cores are usually running at 100% when rendering, however, my ram usage (8 gb) rarely maxes out, unless i am doing 3 or 4 renders at one time, which really slows down the machine.
