License Delivery maintenance is expected to occur on Saturday, November 30, between 8 AM and 11 AM CET. This may cause a short 3-hours outage in which license-related tasks: license key upload, download, update, SSA validation, access to the license pool and Graphisoft ID authentication may not function properly. Problem with rendering

Hi people!
I'm new here

So, I've got a few issues and I need some help.
I found a great site for downloading objects and textures; http://www.archibaseplanet.com/
But when I'm rendering pictures with objects they sometimes just get grey. This is often with pretty advanced objects like humans with skin, hari, clothes... or flowers etc...

What am I missing here?

As you can see here on the picture, both the woman and the flowers are grey. I can't figure out why!
Hope someone out there can give me a hand

I also read somewhere that I had to download a "goodie" named "3D Studio in".
This lets you import 3ds models. And will set the materials up for you. However the models usually have a huge polycount & don't look great in section & elevation. I'm picking most of the objects on archibase are made this way.

Hi again!
I'm still having the same problem. And I just don't get why...

example: http://www.archibaseplanet.com/download/21804.html

I've been trying to use this cabinet. But the same thing happends.
Something is wrong. It still get's greyed out.
You may try to download it maby and see if it workes for you guys?

Three materials follows with the file:
"arch22_wood_011"
"BUCHENAT"
"Woods & Plastics.Finish Carpentry.Wood.White Ash"

And in the parameters Archi Cad lists up a lot of materials (see picture)

The materials is in the library and the library is reloaded and there's
no duplicates.
I've heard a lot of talk about the website I'm downloading from and you guys don't seem to like it very good. But I don't see why anyone would make a website and upload thousands of objects that don't work!?

Hm...

edit: By the way: I know the materials here is set to off, but it don't help if I set it to on. The object just gets a "lighter" grey tone after the rendring. But it's still grey...

Seems like the object can't find the material it's looking for, then it falls back to "General" which is a grey default.

Try loading all the default libraries (those that were installed with your Archicad), then add this library with the Library Manager and Reload, Don't remove the standard libraries unless they cause trouble.

Reeves:

I took a quick look at this object. If you change the material name parameter to "On", then you can set the material here. The 3D Script has material definitions, but I don't see where these definitions use the jpg files included with the download. I would simply create your own materials using these jpgs if you wish, then use the material parameters in the part to assign them as you desire.

You should add a Signature to your Profile (click the Profile button near the top of this page) with your ArchiCAD version and operating system (see mine for an example) for more accurate help in this forum.

Thaks for the help David!
That was a good tip, I didn't think of that.
So now I've changed the materials and it workes great
But still, it's enoying that I can't use the materials from the download.
I've also downloaded some people, and I can't use the AC materials in such an object. (because of hair, eyes, skin etc..)'
And I've downloaded sofa's and such with special fabricks..

I hope I will figure this out somehow.. Some objects work tho!

Can the problem be that a lot of these objects are 3ds and not gdl?
3ds is for 3D Studio Max right?

If that's the case, why does archibaseplanet use this type of file?

Yes 3ds is the format used be 3D studio max.
Archibase mainly convert their models from 3DS models because it is easy (using the 3ds converter plugin) and they are giving them away for free.
They are never going to be as good as a native written parametric GDL object.

You can use the jpg files included with the download by assigning them to the materials used in the object. Search the ArchiCAD Help files for "texture" for more information. The textures only show in the 3D Window when set to Open GL, and photorenderings.
