Real time 3d Presentations

We are currently preparing to set up an independant Large screen presentation area for clients to view their new designs.

At the moment I generally take my laptop in to each meeting and spin the model round for them to view.

I have tried zermatt and like the speed (especially to save an independant file) rather than have to fully render.....but....

Is there anything else worth pursuing.
We'd prefer not to fully render for hours - But we want quality if possible
We need quality presentation that can be "HANDLED" by our personnel for presentations rather than a few dedicated CAD staff.
We need a simple save and run process

Is there anything else out there worth looking at
PDF U3d is a little primitive
Archishock is good interface fpr simple use but low quality
Zermatt looked ok but who knows what is going on with EON software ?

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Try VRML files and a VRML browser. You can run around VRML models (provided they are on the correct scale) including gravity and collision detection. You can use browsers such as Blaxxun Contact http://www.blaxxun.com or Cortona http://www.parallelgraphics.com/products/cortona/

The VRML export from ArchiCAD is not always correct, so you might get better results with a 3ds file which is then converted to VRML using conversion software such as Deep Exploration http://www.righthemisphere.com/products/dexp/ , 3DWin http://www.tb-software.com/, Polytrans http://www.okino.com etc...

In 10 there is the new walk through thingy - but like most things in ArchiCAD these days it is only half-way there! Why we cannot set up paths to replay - or record a path as we travel through the model......

I often export the model as a 3ds, then I load the 3ds into Cinema4D - tweek a few settings, establist a center origin, and export as VRML2.

Then the program Wirefusion, allows a fast 3D model that can be presented with a web browser and posted on the web for all to see.

Hi Burginger.

I remember your thread quite a while ago on wirefusion...
But I am trying to simplify the system for our team so that we can prepare something fairly straightforward for our clients to view....and for our team to be able to operate effectively.
I am concerned about utilising so many ins and outs via software.

Maybe it's just best to do a quick fly round under lightworks and leave it at that......I'm just not sure....
Any ideas on the quickest and best method for such...
I'd rather end up with a Windows media player file
Which codec is best for display on a large format LCD.
We will be keeping all in house - no web transfer required so size is not a major problem here

Any and all suggstions appreciated

I cannot test it, because I am Mac based. There is the new UDF - PDF file format in AC10. Perhaps someone else can chime in on that.

I have been using Zermatt for the last year and love it, the best thing is that you can give the client a file which does not require any other software to run it, you can also record movies or "paths" which can play at the start of a presentation. I have just had the update for AC10 which seems faster and more stable and am looking forward to V2.0 with radiosity.

Its a shame that it uses the opengl textures and not the lightworks shaders but you cant have it all

I suggest you download the demo and give it a try

A series of linked Quicktime panoramas, perhaps using Meander, is very quick to generate, is cross-platform, and lets you control what the client sees, yet gives them a sense of "control" in the viewing. I like Art*lantis for generating this, but plain old AC works fine, too.

I just received this e-mail regarding Zermatt 2.0

"Thank you for your interest in Zermatt 2.0

As we get closer to a final product we would like to know
what computer configuration you have in order to further
optimize Zermatt.

We have released a test program for this purpose, which
will generate an e-mail with information that describe the
rendering capabilites of your computer.

Thank you for providing this useful information.

Other than this i have heard nothing other than it should be released mid september but who knows!!

I paid $500 NZD about 1 year ago, which seemed excessive at the time but i wouldn't be without it know
