Rendering Software

Which software is the best for life like renderings? There are so many out there to choose from. Please don't mention Art-Lantis.

Is their a list out there comparing software? Pros and Cons?
Thanks,

This must be hurled in my direction, I guess...

If by life changing you mean helping you in a decisive way to win a couple of really great jobs, the those-that-make-a-difference kind of jobs, then I guess ArtLantis R fits the ticket.

If, on the other hand, you mean the I-saw-the-light-and-now-I-am-reborn-and-will-quit-boose-and-maybe-rule-a-country kind of change, no, I can´t say software does it to me.

How is camera control for animation in Artlantis these days? Is it as goofy as Archicad's is?

Camera control for animation on Art.lantis R is perfect, without any glitch whatsoever.

In fact, it is so perfect it isn´t even there...

Art.lantis R has no animation...

Art.lantis S will have, it will be out soon (?), and if it is anything like camera control on Art.lantis 4.5, it should be really easy. For instance, you can accelerate and decelerate the camera movement automatically (try doing that in ArchiCAD...)

I posted my method for that around here somewhere recently (using a custom object to evenly space cameras, or space them continuously closer/further to change movement speed).

It's not pretty, but works.

My favorite remains C4D's "Follow Spline" command, so the camera follows a spline path. Makes editing really easy!

I read it carefully, it looked like a work of a genius
(At least, to me it did... which isn´t saying much anyway)

If it works, the object was made for that purpose. If not, then it wasn't 🙂

For those interested, it's a great exercise in rotating Graphical Hotspots.

Somewhat off topic but related question; if Artlantis R or S were included with the purchase of AC (no price add), would anyone continue to use Lightworks for renderings? Any qualities with Lightworks that beat out Artlantis aside than that LW is bundled with AC?

Based on comments in this thread, we've downloaded and experimented with the free trial version, finding it relatively quick and easy to use. Our preliminary analysis; Artlantis seems to yield at least equal results compared to Lightworks.

Thanks for any thoughts.
