I can't recommend which machine is faster but Cinerender does use multiple cores.
However ther are an awful lot of settings in Cinerender that can increase render times dramatically.
Also your surface materials can have an effect on time if they use displacement for example.
The more realistic you want things to look the longer they will take.
I am still trying to work it all out myself.
Start using the 'Fast' render schemes then 'Medium' to see how you render appears.
If you are still not happy try 'Final' but it will probably be a lot slower.
I find any of the schemes using the 'Physical' camera settings can be a lot slower as well.
Again it all depends on the actual settings.
The YouTube movies in the Help menu do offer some explanation for some of the settings - but there are a few to watch.
