Rendering smoke from chimney

CarlM

Hi,
I am wondering if anyone has tried rendering smoke (to be specific; water vapor) from a chimney/smoke stack?

I have received a 3D-object representing a simulated smoke pattern that I want to render, but I am not quite sure which parameters in Cinerender to tweak to best get a realistic result. I know that the refractive index of water vapor is 1.000256, but that alone doesn't give the desired result - I've tried to modify the Surface for Air without success.

Does anyone have experience of this type of rendering and can give me some pointers in the right direction? Material to use?

Thanks!
