Scaling Elevations in Lightworks?!

Does anybody have any solutions to the problem of accurately scaling elevations rendered in lightworks? I read a previous post about placing a slab of a set length under the elevation then doing a scaled measure in plotmaker. There has got to be an easier method of doing this, doesnt there? and if not...why not!! My loyalty in gradually sliding back to artlantis!
