What I miss is a user forum at Optgraph´s website to share tips, images and questions with others users. Maybe we can create one on Yahoo groups or something else. What do you Archilumos users think about it?
Regards,
Ricardo

Steve wrote:Any more info regarding Archilumos 2, it was seemingly released on the 8th Nov. however I see no fanfare with regard to it.
This is a good place to watch for ArciLumos news in English. But it is not very up-to-date.

If anyone has any info/ reviews of the new version, please tell.

I belive that surfaces are just as important as lighting. I have seen so many images that have the potential to look fantastic but the artist has not paid any attention to surfacing.
As you say, it will be a hard choice to make, what do I do? Go for better lighting and sacrifice my surfacing possibilities or go for a non radiosity solution where I can achieve, also have the ability, to create really nice surfaces?
Cheers.

In preparing my book, I've had a thorough look at what the LightWorks Engine can do, and am astonished at how little of its capability has been implemented in ArchiCAD so far. I am certain that someday, we'll get LightWorks Sketch Engine, real time previewing, advanced rendering and radiosity. But first, it seems that they must rewrite how light works in ArchiCAD. Or something major like that about which no one will speak.

Regarding Graphisoft bringing radiosity to LightWorks:

The total list of LightWorks features is very interesting, especially the part about shaders that are compatible with the realtime and rendering engine.
Let's hope Graphisoft will extend the native materials from ArchiCAD to something a bit more sophisticated. It might turn ArchiCAD into a powerfull visualization tool as well.
If you know that almost every movie effect and TV image using 3D-Animation is rendered with tools like Renderman or Mental Ray, where the material quality is directly depending on the custom written shaders, then you know that the sky is the limit.
Support for Radiosity & HDRI would be the two most interesting improvements, though, since they have the most potential in Architectural Visualization.
And please, improve the Light Sources too!!! They are sooooo limited. Add support for physical lighting: IES, Detailled control over shadowing, falloff, intensities etc...
Materials without a decent control over lights won't go very far.
It might all be possible in the LightWorks engine, but it has to be smoothly integrated in ArchiCAD too: the 3DWindow using OpenGL, the GDL object properties (for which LightWorks support has been included, AFAIK).
