This is a good place to watch for ArciLumos news in English. But it is not very up-to-date.

Go for better lighting and sacrifice my surfacing possibilities or go for a non radiosity solution where I can achieve, also have the ability, to create really nice surfaces?

Regarding Graphisoft bringing radiosity to LightWorks:
In preparing my book, I've had a thorough look at what the LightWorks Engine can do, and am astonished at how little of its capability has been implemented in ArchiCAD so far. I am certain that someday, we'll get LightWorks Sketch Engine, real time previewing, advanced rendering and radiosity. But first, it seems that they must rewrite how light works in ArchiCAD. Or something major like that about which no one will speak.
