Add a function to copy selected pens between Pen Sets within the same Archicad file.

It would be very useful to have a function that allows users to copy selected pens from one Pen Set to another within the same Archicad file.

In larger templates, different Pen Sets are often used for different drawing scales, for example:

• 1:500 site plans
• 1:100 architectural plans
• 1:50 building plans
• 1:20 / 1:10 details

These Pen Sets usually share the same color logic and pen descriptions, while only some pen weights differ depending on the drawing scale.

Currently, if a new color or a new group of pens is added to one Pen Set, the same RGB values and descriptions often have to be entered manually into every other Pen Set. This is time-consuming and can easily lead to inconsistencies.

Suggested functionality

In the Pens & Colors dialog, it would be useful to be able to:

• select one or multiple pens,
• choose Copy to Pen Set…,
• select one or multiple target Pen Sets,
• choose what should be copied:
  • Color / RGB
  • Description
  • Pen weight
  • or all properties.

An additional option such as “Copy colors and descriptions only, keep target pen weights” would be especially useful for scale-dependent Pen Sets.

Benefit

This would:

• make Pen Set management much faster,
• reduce manual input,
• prevent inconsistencies between Pen Sets,
• make scale-dependent Pen Set workflows much easier to maintain,
• improve template management in larger offices.

You can use the legacy Attribute Manager. It was one of the many functions that fell off when they created the Attribute Palette...

Options => Element Attributes => Attribute Manager

1. Go to the Pens tab.

2a. Select your reference Pen Set from the TOP LEFT hand box, then click on "By Index >>". This will copy it over to the TOP RIGHT hand box.

2b. Open the Pen Set Attributes from an external file using the Import button on the TOP RIGHT. This will open it in the TOP RIGHT hand box.

3. Select the Pen Set that you wish to edit from the TOP LEFT hand box

4. Select your reference Pen Set from the TOP RIGHT hand box, this will show you the list of Pens in the BOTTOM RIGHT hand box

5. Select the Pens that you wish to import from the BOTTOM RIGHT. Standard selection hotkeys apply.

6. Click "<< By Index" to import the selected Pens.

7. Repeat from step 3 for each other Pen Set that you wish to import your Pens into.
