Annotation Zone around Enlarged Views

Please provide an annotation zone around enlarged drawings

As much as I hate to mention the "R(evit)" word, it has this functionality and it is extremely useful.

The current workflow for enlarged drawings generated from plan views requires masking around the magnified area with a fill, and changing the stacking order of the annotation and dimensions. It's tedious and we really need a better solution.

What about the option to use “live detail views” to achieve this?

There are 2 other alternatives you can try.

One is use a worksheet, you can annotate outside of the cropped worksheet area.

But worksheets are not live, they have to be re-built.

Or create 2 views of you plan.

One with the model but no annotation layer.

The other with no model and just the annotation layer.

Annotate the plan ignoring that your annotation goes over part of the model.

The model view you place on a layout and crop to show just the area you want.

Then add the annotation view and overlay it (a hotspot i the Archicad layer can help to align them).

how is this efficient? And the margin for error on placement of multiple views on top of each other is huge.

placing static dimensions on a worksheet (part of annotation) is something I'm surprised you are even suggesting. Even more so if you're suggesting to use a worksheet like you would a detail marker which effectively explodes everything into 2D, and when rebuilding from source causes you to lose annotation etc...

neither of these is a suitable alternative.

We need a simple way of creating enlarged views. (FWIW Details are not part of what's being discussed here.)
