Bring back the possibiltiy to adapt openinglines from doors/windows seperatly (out of MVOC)

From Archicad 28 onward, the opening lines are fully controlled by the Model View Options (MVO).
This change introduces some limitations, as it removes the ability to customize these lines individually for each door or window.

All settings are now globally applied, reducing flexibility in detailed design adjustments.

Some users rely on individual adjustments to manage visibility or distinguish between existing and new conditions in floor plans, elevations, and sections.
For example, existing doors are often shown without opening lines, while new ones include them.
This distinction is no longer possible in Archicad 28, as all opening line settings are globally applied through the Model View Options, nor there is a possibility to adapt this in the renovation filters.

So, it would be useful to bring back this possibility, or to add it to the renovation filters.

Thank you!

I don't understand that they pulled out this option. Basic, and necessary, drawing information.

Please bring it back asap.

Totally agree as I don't want opening lines shown on existing doors in elevation. Adding to renovations filters would be a good option.

Agree, this is very frustrating!! Just bring it back (where it use to be in window default settings). This slows down productivity.

It is not useful to bring it back, it is necessary

and Please DO NOT hide it in renovation filters, we need to bring back the MVO override for this and all other objects.

Developers taking away flexibility and functionality from the software is so foolish. Individual opening line control for windows/doors is a useful feature and should be brought back. Same thing with the ability to turn off objects 3D appearance. Developers need to start using the software or at least actually listening to people who use it.

Global Libraries were supposed to be an improvement, but we keep learning how they either do not deliver promised features or remove existing ones that many users consider essential.

Does this issue still exist in 29? I'm assuming with global libraries it does.

@JaredBanks -- 100% -- the global libraries are a step backwards -- DON'T REMOVE NECESSARY PARAMETER SETTINGS

AC27->AC08 in my case IIRC I could override on an individual basis.

-- Time line --

  • GS decides in AC28 that a 20+ year workflow is not necessary (probably because the project manager in charge has no idea how architecture works).
  • During the Preview and Beta every single user indicates that this is a mistake and wrong headed direction.
  • GS indicates "Sorry, too late, this is by design… all you users are using AC wrong and you don't know anything…"
  • AC28 Release: Bigger client than the sum of all "small insignificant users" complains that he needs this after the release because he never participates in Beta
  • AC29: we did a small change, that does not bring back the functionality but we are thinking that some users need this option… BTW we are going to hide it.
  • Future AC30 Release Notes: New Per Object Tool MVO Override Option. One of the biggest AC30 improvements is to bring for the FIRST Time a per tool override option to make AC more flexible to all users. GS has decided that architects need the ability to override on a per elements since a binary global setting is too limiting and this is more productive. AC30 The MOST Flexible AC Ever (TM).
  • GS Insiders Panel: We are thinking of bringing back the "select All, turn Off, Lock" options to the Layer Palette…
