Custom/User-defined Renovation Statuses

It would be great to have another option in the state of renovation.
1- To be demolished
2 - new
3 - To be legalised (Blue)

[Moderator: After some discussion, we agreed that it would be even better to be able to define any number of custom/user-created Renovation Statuses.]

Could you explain in more detail what "to be legalized" means in your practice or country? Does it mean that a building permit has been issued for it? Or that a permit has to be issued for it? Does it mean that it was built and now it can legally stay in its constructed state (does not have to be demolished due to not being compliant with building codes or some other reason)?

So, please provide more detailed info.

@Laszlo Nagy

In Portugal, but maybe in some other countries (Italy?, Spain?, Greece?, France?), built elements, real ones, have 4 status: existing (legal, represented in black), to be demolished (represented in yellow), new/proposed (represented in red) and built to be legalised (built elements that were not registered in the original project and we aim to keep, represented in blue).

@Patrick_lgs I've advocated for this feature for years, nowadays, although I wouldn't mind having it (it would be certainly easier), I developed a workflow to circumvent this limitation. I have a property that states if elements are "legal" or "ilegal" and then I have a graphic override stating that existing elements that are ilegal should be painted blue. This is something you can setup on your template and never think about it again.

@Laszlo Nagy

In Portugal, the status "To Be Legalised" refers to construction works carried out without official authorisation — for instance, the addition of a window or an unauthorised extension to an existing structure.

Provided that these works comply with current planning regulations and building codes, they can be legalised and allowed to remain as built.

This example illustrates a renovation project where we have elements marked for demolition, elements to be constructed, and components that require legalisation.

Additionally, the areas highlighted in green represent parts of the originally approved project that were never executed. Since one cannot demolish something that was never built, these are shown in green for clarity.

While it is possible to represent these conditions using custom properties and graphic overrides, it would be significantly more efficient and intuitive to have this classification natively available within the Renovation Status settings in Archicad.

@Pedro Melo I use the exact same workflow ( i've learned it from the Infor videos 😊 ) but as you said... it will make renovation projetects easier. 👍

@Patrick_lgs,

Thanks for the clarification. Yes, we have the same practice in Hungary when something already built can be submitted to the authorities so they can approve it to stay as it is. So, we don't call it legalization, we call it something else, but it is the same principle.

So, based on the above, and based on the possibility that other countries might have even more use cases for Renovation Statuses, would it not be a better (or more generic) wish to have the ability to define any number of custom, user-defined Renovation Statuses (not just an additional built-in status)? Then the tool would be able to handle any kind of situation and any number of Renovation statuses and scenarios.

@Patrick_lgs,

Great. Since you are the author of this wish, would it be OK with you if I modified the title of the wish to communicate this more clearly?

To something like:

"Custom/User-defined Renovation Statuses".

Or, if you have other suggestions, let me know.
