Detail Manager

Add a 'Details' tab to the Attribute Manager so that details can be easily swapped in and out of a template file of details. Adding a detail would automatically create the New Independent Detail in the Project Map and View Map so they would be ready to be placed on a layout.

Linking a detail via the 'Import View' is a bit antiquated and seems to never have really worked and is one detail at a time. Using the proposed Attribute Manager approach would make the details native to the job .pln file and not linked.

Below is a simple mockup, with previews and View Map list (here showing a detail with notes/dims to overwrite an unfinished template version as the remote file). This presumes a simple .pln file as a detail template. Multiple details could be imported at a time.

The blue text could be a next-level addition with more CAD Management where users could submit details to be templatized.

I submitted this to the old forum over a decade ago and it had positive response. We have had our template bloat over time as we have not wanted to keep creating New Independent Detail, copy/paste, and repeat ad nauseum.

Jeff, I am not sure why this isn't an obvious feature in many versions past. I think that a simple drag and drop may work as well.

I came here to post this exact item as a wishlist but saw the wish already existed.

Detailing takes so much time, normally my workflow is having to individually create independant details one by one, even just setting up a blank detail when theres 3 different wall claddings, 2 different roof claddings, and 30 details in each of those 5 detail types plus another 20 or so for waterproofing details if the cad template file dosent already have this set up. then renaming independant details and copy pasting from individual windows from one cad file to another, this would save so much time if it could simply be created using a detail manager in the form of attribute manager, it could even be worthwhile having a layout book manager also that would copy across the certain drawing sheets that these details are already placed on to eliminate setting up each detail viewport on each page, just as you can copy paste a viewport from one project to another if the names are identical it will link back to the viewport automatically.

This would be such a time saver. please move this item up the wishlist! +1
