Dimension to Partial Structure Display

Patrick M

If dimensions are going to be tied to partial structure display, there needs to be a way to change which partial structure display they are tied to.
Too many novices think dimensioning with plans set to core only will save them time not zooming to snap to face of core, then they find out after the fact they need to completely redo their dimensions after spending hours (or days) documenting a plan set.

IT would be also nice to define the dimensions in different partial Structure Displays and to have an extra Structure Display that is not existing right now that would be ... "Complete as adition of the Partia structures"

In this way you could have the complete Plan with the STructural dimensions, finisches, etc. and also Only the Structural plan ... WITH ONLY ONE DIMENSION!

I hope this is a meaningfull addition to your idea.

YES, PLEASE!!! Dimensions to rough framing is the most frustrating part in all of archicad!  The default for all of archicad should be to “Core”, except when in “Interior elevations”.   This would be so so nice….

You do know there is a setting in the dimension tool that allows you to dimension the core of a wall even when the other and finish skins are showing?

Glad I came upon this wish, since I was planning to post a similar one.

I totally agree - I would love to have the ability to choose which specific layers are considered with element-click dimensioning (Core, Finish, Other).

Not being able to choose Core + Other and leaving the Finish layers is a total headache at the moment 😞

Barry, the option to dimension to core faces/finish/ref line/etc... only works if you are dimensioning to a vector, not a node. If your reference line is at the face of finish, and you are not zoomed way in, you can still dimension to the face of finish even when your dimension is set to core faces...

in any case, it's a silly 'feature' to have dimensions tied to partial structure display, and even a sillier lack of feature that you can't change what partial structure display dimensions are tied to.
