Identifier on Cursor showing Current Renovation Status

It would be great if there was some way of the cursor changing when placing elements to clearly show which renovation status is currently in use when placing elements.

When the user has been placing elements as ‘New’ and then switches the filter to ‘Existing’ and back to any of the ‘Proposed’ filters, the renovation status changes to ‘Demolished’ and any newly placed elements are placed as demolished instead of new. Sometime it switches to Existing so it would be helpful if the cursor or on screen prompt could identify the current status all the time or just when the first element is placed after changing the filter.

This could be by a physical change to the cursor style or colour or a pop up next to the cursor similar to that which appears when using the element transfer.

brilliant idea! 👏

It’s such a subtle but smart improvement. I’ve noticed that in my team, this situation happens very frequently — you think you're placing 'New', and suddenly you're placing 'Demolished' or 'Existing' without realizing it. Having a visual cue like a color change or a small label near the cursor (like the one from the element transfer tool) would really help avoid mistakes.

Hope Graphisoft seriously considers this one — it's one of those simple tweaks that could make a big difference.

I’m curious — how do you imagine this working exactly? Maybe each renovation status could have its own cursor color? Or even a small icon next to the cursor? Would love to hear how you see it.

A cursor in different colours would be great.

Graphisoft moved away from colour in the interface so I was thinking a small icon next to the cursor which matches the icons of the renovation status.
