Remove this checkbox from module save window or default to OFF

Please remove this option from the "Save Hotlink as Module File" window: "Replace selection with this hotlinked module file"

It has caused tremendous damage in some of our projects. One user not not being on guard for a moment can destroy hours, days of work. Sometimes it is noticed much much later and there is no way to go back to a recovered file.

To be honest I don't see any benefit in this option. I haven't used it once in 24 years. But if there really is, make it a Workspace Environment option to have it included.

Some may want to do exactly what it says.

I do agree the default option should be turned OFF (I believe it is ON).

However, once you have changed it, I think it remembers and will not change back.

As for the tremendous damage.

If the selection is replaced with the hotlink, all you have to do is break that hotlink and you are back to your individual elements.

Or do I not understand what the damage is?

@Barry Kelly In theory I can see that, that's why I advised the inclusion to be a workspace environment option. There are other complex, potentially dangerous options that are included this way.

For starters that would be great. Easy fix, as I imagine.

That is true as I remember, BUT: we typically work in teamwork environment, where this is not an option. When someone works solo on construction administration, that's when it gets screwed up. Since everyone is used to working in TW, our designers aren't used to paying attention to this little checkbox. It's a really unexpected mistake. And then the new archicad comes out next year, and it happens again...

Imagine that you have a live model, fully annotated, a portion of all of that is saved as a module (not all layers, reno status, design option status etc. are turned on, when the mod is saved), then this model is exploded. The result is missing dimensions, labels, SEO and so much more. Plus I believe all design option status info is lost as well, because the placed module has one status, so the nuances within the original model is lost.
