fix tool tips

P W

Please fix the tool tips - when we hover our cursor over tools they don't appear (yes they are turned on). From NZ.

We are aware of an issue with tooltips disappearing when palettes are moved to a separate monitor, maybe related to your wish.

We are working on it.

Thanks James - it will be good when they do work again. However it's not just pallets, it's all tools that are docked as well (ie, in the toolbox or info bar).

Cheers.

Yes I'm saving the same problem, but it's intermittent as well, in that one day it works and the next it doesn't.

I do love being able to move the Info Box to my second monitor off of my primary Archicad monitor to free up more screen space to see the model.

We are experiencing the same issue in Archicad 29, but interestingly, it only seems to occur in .pln files.

When I open our .tpl template file, the tooltips work normally. However, when I start a new project based on that same template, the tooltips no longer work once the project is opened as a .pln file.

Previously, I was advised to toggle Show/Hide Tooltips on and off several times in a row. This temporarily solved the issue, but unfortunately the problem has returned and this workaround no longer works.

Hopefully, the fact that the tooltips work correctly in the .tpl file but stop working in a .pln file even when that .pln is created directly from the same template can help narrow down the cause.

@JokeSwinnen

So, just to clarify.

When you open a TPL file, the tool tips work fine.

You save the file (as a PLN) and the tool tips are still working?

But when you close the file and re-open it, the tool tips no longer work.

Hi Barry,

Actually, the situation has changed again. The tooltips are now also no longer showing in the TPL file, even though they were working correctly in that exact same file just a few hours ago. I did not close or restart Archicad in between they simply stopped appearing while working.

I have already reset my Work Environment and also performed a Preference Clean, but neither has resolved the issue.

So at this point, it seems to be intermittent and not specifically related to PLN files after all.

Are you using multiple monitors by any chance?

If so, is Archicad on the second monitor?

Barry.

Yes, I’m using multiple monitors, but I’ve already tested this. The issue occurs on both monitors, regardless of which monitor Archicad is displayed on.

So unfortunately, moving Archicad between the monitors does not seem to make any difference.

It could be as James mentioned that you have Archicad on one monitor and some palettes on the second monitor.

Make sure Archicad is on the main monitor and then re-apply the default Work Environment (Graphisoft's, not yours) and see if that changes anything.

Maybe even disconnect the extra monitors.

Thanks for the suggestion. I had already tried this, including applying the default Graphisoft Work Environment, but unfortunately it didn’t resolve the issue.

In the meantime, I also contacted KUBUS, our Archicad distributor in the Netherlands and Belgium. They informed me that, according to Graphisoft, this is a known issue when using Archicad on Windows 11 with two or more monitors.

They also indicated that this will most likely not be fixed in Archicad 29, but is expected to be addressed in Archicad 30.

So it seems that the multi-monitor setup is indeed related to the problem, although moving Archicad between monitors or resetting the Work Environment does not solve it.

Just sharing this information here in case it is useful to others experiencing the same issue.
