view setting management - make it make sense

I feel I've posted this before, but could not find it... there needs to be a cohesive and consistent user interface to view setting management. The fact that you need to click update to change a layer combination, can freely modify model view options, have to jump between renovation and graphic overrides to reserve the grapic override styles/rules, need to completely override or create new pen sets and dimension styles...
I undertand why. These features evolved over time. But they read like they are all from completely different programs. They all are contributing the same thing; defining what one view has and another doesn't.
Lack of cohesion is one of the biggest hurdles when training people in archicad. It's not JUST view settings, but since we are supposed to have one request per post; here's this one: Make view settings look like they belong to the same user interface. Make them cohesive and consistent.

No you don't, if you are talking about updating layer combinations in the layer dialogue.

Select the layer on the right side of the layer dialogue and then change the settings in any or all of the layer combinations on the left.

You can even select multiple combinations to change them all at once.

Then just OK and job is done.

If you select the layer combination and then start updating the layer settings, that is when you must use the update button.

Barry.
