I've changed it to 'Shaded' and tried every graphic override there is but it's still either all surface colours or all the same pen type  thank you for trying to help though, any other ideas?

Here is the picture: (sorry about that) As you can see, the geometry is quite complex so when I tried to just trace it with the slab tool (polygonal method) it just looked very wonky.
