In short, the Athenian modern cityscape is formed based on the modernist construction style — the Le Corbusier-developed Dom-Ino system. The polykatoikia was originally conceived in the 1930s as a multistorey apartment building for the Athenian bourgeoisie. This building logic was extensively mobilised with the post-war reconstruction of Athens. Today's needs lead to reimagining this building typologies, through small ir big scale renovations of the existing.
A city block was modelled in Archicad in two variations, with and without openings.
I love how variation 2 shows it warped to an Athenian hillside 🙂 Also I prefer that varation with the openings as it opens up the block to the street side.
@Claudius variation 2 was a desperate upload, trying to post something on time, as I thought the submission deadline was noon and not midnight.. 🤣
Variation 1, especially the two buildings in front, is actually quite close to a real-world example.
