VBE won't load on Mac computer

Hi.

I have a file which I have converted to a VBE file. I have saved it for MAC/PC on my Mac Pro.

When I try to open this file (18mb) on my Macbook Pro, nothing happens. It won't open.

Does anyone have Idea of what might be the problem. ?

My macbook pro has following specs.:
2.8 GHZ - 2 Core
4GB - Ram DDR3
256 MB Videocard

I have tried downloading the biggest sample VBE file from Graphisoft homepage, and this file works fine. (61mb)

Not sure what you mean by saving for "MAC/PC". Each is a separate Save menu item - the Mac save creates a OS X app file and the Windows save creates a Windows exe file.

Any chance you are trying to open the Windows exe on your Mac?

No offcourse. I have saced for both versions. And only tested the mac version.

When I try to open the Mac version. It doesn't open.

You might try using Disk Utility to repair your permissions (one possibility). Otherwise, you may have to reinstall VBE.

Inside the VBE add-on folder are the viewer executable for Mac and Win. These are bundled with the model when you save a VBE file. It sounds like somehow either the viewer itself or the resulting file is either corrupt or has the wrong access permissions.

As a side note while you work this out, while the viewer apps that you create are read-only (they cannot modify the viewpoints/settings and save new copies) - the main VBE application can OPEN those files and read the rendered (if you used global illumination) model for you to re-save it for another platform, or in this case, after permissions repair / reinstall.

Good luck,
Karl

Hi Karl

Suddenly it worked for me. I don't know what I did.

But it is nice to know what to try if it does it again.
