Archicad to Excel to Pages/Word Issue

This could be a question for excel / word forums however somebody may have the same issue. Basically we do our schedules (including door / window schedules) in Pages and therefore copy info from excel file (exported from Archicad) to pages tables. My problem is you have to copy and paste each individual cell with the elevation of the door into the pages table. Where as with the text you can select the entire cell range, copy then paste into Pages. Its not a biggy but frustrating that you have to muck around. Try it and you will see my drift… Please see attached images to give you a further clue what I am going on about.

Cheers, Michael.

Right; this has nothing to do with ArchiCAD and everything to do with trying to use Excel with Pages. Pages does not understand Excel clipboard format.

You have to understand that Pages was designed to work with Numbers not Excel. Numbers understands Excel however. So if you export from ArchiCAD to Excel and then open the Excel file in Numbers (thereby converting it to an Apple format) then you can paste from Numbers into Pages.

Testing just now, I found that even using numbers doesn't give A perfect solution. Everything pastes into Pages but all the graphics paste as individual elements in a grid layout and the remaining spreadsheet content pastes as a single table. Better than trying to paste from Excel though.

Not really the same issue. Multiple graphics and the table paste into word just as they do from Numbers into Pages.

The problem is that Excel spreadsheets cannot contain graphics in their cells only text or numbers. So, the Graphisoft exported spreadsheet has made the cells large enough to accommodate the individually placed graphics.

You can confirm this in Excel by changing the column widths and row heights and observing that the graphics content is anchored to a cell but not really contained in it. your best bet for customizing the graphic schedule is to do it in Excel or Numbers and not in a word processing program.
