BIG problem with zone schedule in ac11

Having just upgarded to AC11 (and mac, but thats another story), I am working on a ac10 project with some 100 zones.

The zone schedule, with names, numbers and areas, which takes about 1 min in ac10 to calculate, takes about 20 min in ac 11. same machine, same file, same everything.

I'm getting quite desperate here.

anyone?

Thanks.

This is also happening with other lists. they take about 20 times more to calculate than in ac10. Am I missing something obvious?

I have been running schedules on some very large buildings with no problems at all. One is over 400,000 sf (4000 sm) with thousands of doors, walls, etc. including the complete structure with all the steel beams and columns. I haven't timed it but I would estimate that it takes no more than a minute.

I am not using zones in the schedules however. Have you tried saving back to AC10 to test if the problem goes away?

Thanks Matthew.

The problem is now also in ac10.

I even went as far as turning the zones from automatic to manual, to see if it had any impact, but it still takes the same time.

Is this a mac thing? should I be managing its memory or something?

If the problem is with the file, what could i do, besides copying it all to another new file?

You can try a different zone stamp (just to see if it makes a difference).

I have seen some sluggishness at times with zones in general (not just in the scheduler) but it was just as much in Windows as Mac (if not more so).

Are the zones displaying quickly in plan? Do you have any library parts that are using zone info?

I have found that the calculations to determine what things are in what zones can be rather slow. Could that have anything to do with it?

To see if the problem is in the file, try copy/paste, clean merge, etc to bring the model into a new file.

Look like I nailed it.

I build some 400 complex walls to represent construction elements that are applied to interior walls.

Unfortunately, even with the "no effects on zones" active, ac takes 20 minutes to calculate the zones. If I delete those walls it takes about one minute.

Is there a workaround?
