Error Message: 'Cannot write output file'

Anonymous
Not applicable
I am having the same problem with 7.0, 8.0 and 8.1 in saving to a dwg file I keep getting the error message 'cannot write output file'. This happens about 95% of the time when I am trying to save to either dwg or dxf files for our consultants. I am beginning to have serious doubts about this programs effectiveness as it is now becoming a hinderance as I cannot get information out to my consultants. I used to be able to save before to dwg files with ease, all of these problems began with 8.0 and then when I switched to Panther things seemed to get worse I really need some help now before I go out of my mind.

you say that you are using OSX? make sure that you have repaired system permissions, and that you have write access to the folder you are saving/publishing to - especially if on a server.

also check to make sure that you are not trying to overwrite an existing file that could be locked.

both of these have been responsible for me getting an alert such as yours in the past . . . that is not to say that something else is awry. in other cases i have only been able to get around this by completely deleting the view/publish item and reproducing it.
