IFC to revit export: Renovation Filter issues

Our Architecture firm is having issues with consultanting engineer's ability to read renovation filters in revit.

We are designing a new addition going to tie into an existing building. Within the revit software it's identifying all demolition filter objects as new work, you can think of Revit only having two phases Existing and New Construction. Elements that are being demoed for instance would be created in the (Existing) phase and demolished in the (New Work) phase. A new item would be created in the (New Work) phase and then Revit has filters to determine what shows up where in view. Does anyone have a a solution for translating IFC files with the appropriate renovation filters

Hi afreytag.  I am having the same issue.  Did you find a solution?

Matthew,

We did not find an easy solution.. Our work around has been sending IFC files one with new work and one with demolition. Graphisoft offered to perform an audit to identify issues, however we determined the price they are asking to find a solution isn't acceptable given the amount we pay for the yearly licenses and are continuing to find our own solution. We have not come up with an easy solution.

Thanks Adam.  That is what I was going to do next.  Too bad it is not more straight forward.

Side question:  Do you always export as IFC as opposed to a direct Revit file?
