I have a question regarding an autocad file which was created containing all construction drawings on different layouts, in one dwg file.
When importing the file into archicad, all 7 layouts with all their layers import into archicad. I know it would be a headache to figure out which layerrs belong to which layout and creating layer combinations, that woudl take forever.
Is there something I missed in the dwg translation setup which would make this task much easier?
I am also wondering if there is an easier solution by attatching the dwg as xrefs?
So far I have thought about deleting all layouts in autocad but one and saving it as one dwg. Then opening the original autocad file and delete all layouts but the following layout and save. Repeat this process until I have 7 different dwg files which I am able to work with.
Also thought about trying to merge the 30+ layers on each layout into one(this is in autocad). This would only create 7 new layers refering to each autocad layout and when I merge into archicad which I can toggle between easily, instead of 300 layers, with 7 drawings on top of each other.
sorry for the long message, this dilemma may be due mainly to my lack of knowledge of autocad and some sort of setup I could have done in autocad to make the transition easier.
Also, I need these files as basically trace references, so it really doesnt matter if i merge the dwgs into archicad or attach them as xrefs
Thanks,
Kaan
