MaxonForm AC11

So according to GS themselves the Maxonform plugin for AC11 is STILL based on a 3-release old version of Cinema 4D (9.1>9.5>10>10.1)

Can anyone in the know confirm this? Is it Intel now?

I really just don't know what to say...

I'm not sure about plugin compatibility in C4D, but MaxonForm is a stripped down C4D with some additional plugins to communicate with ArchiCAD.

The plugins can be used in a regular C4D, or so I was told.

It would be better to have provided the plugins for all (recent) C4D versions, but I'm afraid that this is typical when connecting applications: fine at the moment they are released, but problematic when they both are updated in their own timeframe.

But with Nemetschek owning both companies, there is hope on improvement. Not much, but at least more hope than with connections to other software.

My understanding was the plugins only work with C4D R9.x ... MaxonForm is based on C4D R9.1 but works with up to 9.5 according to Gabor:

We are facing 2 problems - first there is no MaxonForm plugin for Intel Macs (AFAIK). Maybe this has been fixed with the AC11 plugin .. who knows. Second the plugin only works for R9.x versions of C4D ... which we don't have - we upgraded straight from R8 to R10. So even if there was an Intel version available, it wouldn't matter as the plugin only works with an old version of C4D (which Maxon will not give out even if you have a newer verison).

We will soon see if it is Intel compatible, but I think the use of R9.1 as a base engine is a bigger problem. Most people who use C4D will upgrade to R10, and all new sales will be R10, so it has to be upgraded if they want new sales (do they?)

If GS is going to offload the more complex modelling to another program and then advertise this as a part of ArchiCADs features then they must keep it up to date. The way it stands now is they created MaxonForm, people bought it and since then they have provided sweet-f-a support of it - its base C4D engine has not kept up with C4D itself and neither has it kept up with hardware developments (i.e Intel Macs).

but hopefully i'm wrong!

Hi. This is my first post, but I have been watching this forum for a while. Thanks for all the help.

I am trying to get AC and C4D working together via maxonform and this is what I have. Any help is appreciated.

I know that I cannot use my current version of C4d 10 (mactel) along with AC10. I can get out of AC but not into C4d. Unfortunately I only have a PC version of the earlier 9.1. So I can run AC in Parallels and export to C4d via maxonform and it recognizes the program and opens the file. The only problem is that Parallels does not support the 3D graphics associated with C4d so when I try to move an element or pan it goes wild. So close.

I recently wiped my bootcamp partition thinking that all my needs were met by parallels. My only avenue left is to reload bootcamp and dual boot... no fun.

I'm not sure but i thought the serials were cross platform? I'm not sure where you can get R9.1 for Mac platform either - R10 has cross platform install DVD's but again sure about earlier versions. You could always ask Maxon .. I know they won't give out licenses for old versions, but perhaps they will provide the mac software if you only have a legit PC version?

My post was 'under investigation' ??

I'm guessing use of words such as *erials causes steam to start spewing from within the GS webservers

In my personal experience they are not. I had a temporary license for PC which would not work on the mac version. And off course, it has expired by now.

thanks for the replies. I thought it was my post that caused the investigation.

by fiddling with the preferences in C4D I was able to solve the problem. It was a huge relief, and I am now able to make everything connect and work properly, however it all has to happen in the XP environment including the integration of sketchup. I look forward to the time when it is all possible on the OS. The RAM is running a little low.
