I'm wondering if the v14 mesh functionality always had this intended consequence - building the groundwork for a v15 feature perhaps. In any case I may very well spend the €'s.

New option in the Mesh Generator:
When the option Generate lower surface is on, a thickness can be set. Generate 'Lower Surface'-schedule and a new mesh can be generated. The meshes can be substracted with Solid Element Operation, leaving a shell-shape with constant thickness.
