When I save an ArchiCAD as a DXF, it does seem to save something but when I go to open it nothing is there. The file size becomes zero kb. Do I have a setting wrong in my translator?

Well I'm pretty much using the default translator... Is there a certain setting that you can think of that might not be correct?

The Default Translator seems to assume that you are translating from Plotmaker (under "Save Options, it is set to "Paper Space with Cropped Drawings")

I'm not entirely sure that's the problem, but it might be a start.
