Saving as dwg with layouts included

Hi,

I have colleagues that still use Autocad.

Sometimes its necessary for me to access the files and make amendments - which I'd obviously prefer to do in Archicad.

Whilst I can open the files and the correct information is in the model space(floor plan) and paper space (layouts), when saving back down to a dwg the information on either the paper or model space is missing (depending on which one I save from)

Is it possible to save / export as a dwg and keep the correct format of the file?

Its essential that the plans and layout are within one dwg file.

any help is much appreciated.

Hi @AmberJ,

Here's my workflow to get that result, in 2 steps:

1) Don't use File + Save as DWG, rather you should use Publish via Navigator palette.

2) Before publishing you can set your translator's (01 For further editing / 03 For as is output) save options - save layout into as follows.

Thanks for the help, but unfortunately that doesn't appear to do what I need.

Publishing this way only saves the layout as a dwg within the paper space,

I also need to keep the floor plan within the model space  and have both of these together in one dwg file).

Maybe it's not possible in Archicad or I'm getting the settings wrong?

any further help is much appreciated!

HI Mahmoud.

Thanks for the screen shots - I've tried it with a new file and it seems to work!

My issue with the other files was the way they were set up. The plans on the layouts were 'embedded' rather than originating from a view - there were no views in the View map.

This meant there was nothing to save in the model space.

I think I've got a way of dealing with this - So, Thanks again.

Hi @AmberJ,.

Glad it worked well with you👍.

So placing views from project map on layouts directly avoiding saving them in view map makes this challenge when these layouts are being published as DWG files.

Thanks to you for sharing what was the reason for your case, I never faced before.
