unsupported dxf/dwg file format

Im working in AC14 and I cant open dwg files from another architects office. They use Revit and saved the dwg files for me to use.

It is possible that the Autocad version they saved to is one that AC14 cannot read. Easiest solution is to download draftsight from

http://www.3ds.com/products-services/draftsight/overview/

and used it to save as an old autocad version.
