3D DOCUMENT SETTINGS? NOT GIVING ME THE "SOLID SHADES"?

So..have looked at the settings on the 3D documents settings.
Can't seem to get the actual 3D Document it produces to give me the "shaded tones" like I used to.

it only gives me this "sketchy" hidden linework look....what gives??

yes....even tried all of the different settings in that specific dialogue box....to no avail.
doesn't seem to want to change the output look of the 3D Document.

have tried to reboot the software, reboot the MAC, and to no avail.
seems no matter "what" setting I try to alter......the 3D Document produced from the file will NOT give me any shaded tones....only a simple hidden line type view.......what gives?

JUST SO YOU ALL ARE AWARE.....when migrating from AC11 to AC17...DONT DO IT.....it appears that this vast of a migration caused my 3D Documents, materials, surfaces..etc...to be all out of whack.
there's no way to get this thing back to normal either.....oh well, live and learn.

Does the model look OK in 3D with the Internal Engine active?
This is what 3D Docs will use.

If it does then that is a problem.

Are you using the Building Materials or surface over-rides?
Do you have Legacy mode switched on (i.e. not using BMs) or off (i.e. you now have the choice of BMs or surface over-ride) - try both?

The Building Materials will be created automatically when you convert to 17 so maybe you need to check those and make sure that appropriate surfaces (the old materials) are assigned to the BMs.

YES...the model in 3D looks fine when I switch to the "Internal engine" as the rendering viewing look.

umm...not sure. this was an Archicad 11 legacy PLN which got opened and butchered in AC17

Where do I find this to switch on or off?

Options menu > Project Preferences > Construction Elements.

For old files legacy mode will be on by default so your model will be using the surface (material) over-rides that were set in the old job.
So your 3D doc should look exactly like the 3D internal Engine view.

Just had a thought though - could it be the Renovation Filters.
Try applying a different one in your 3D doc.
