AC28 - Layouts worksheets stuck for multiple minutes

Hello,

We are an organization with over 50 Archicad users. We are experiencing a problem that affects multiple users with different pcs. When working (both in local files and teamwork Bimcloud SaaS or local) and users try to navigate into the layouts, when they select a layout to open (from a list of multiple layouts) the program freezes with the wheel turning. This might last from 10-30 minutes at times. Then it loads. Selecting a different layout does exactly the same thing and it becomes virtually impossible to work. This problem has become unmanageable at this level.

We've updated to latest version of Archicad 28 INT ( i think its 4001) . All pcs running windows 11 pro, with updated NVIDIA drivers.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Operating system used: Windows Multiple

Maybe the layouts have drawings linked to external files?

Hi Barry, thanks for the reply! How would that cause the problem, could you explain it to me a bit more in detail so that i can check out if this affects the users who experience this?

If you have used the Organiser to copy layouts from another file into this one, the drawing on those layouts will remain linked to the file you copied from.

When ever those drawings need to update, a new copy of Archicad will open i the background to update those drawings. So it may be constantly opening and closing Archicad in the background (you will not see this happening, it will just be slow).

If you haven't copied any layout, then this should not be the problem.

Just trying to guess what the problem may be.

Open your Drawing Manager and look to see if any drawing are 'external', or are they all 'internal'.

ah! Got it, no thats not the case for us, since we do bring drawings with copy paste but we change the link from the old file to the current from inside archicad.

I posted about this a few weeks ago. Having the same issue... and its really killing my workflow across multiple projects.

Graphisoft recommended doing a preference's cleanup. That Didn't work

Tried saving, repairing and re-sharing the file. Per Graphisofts recommendation. Didn't work

Graphisoft suggested looking into every error using the find and select tool, and repairing any morph, complex profile, railing.
I haven't got into that.

But I will note, All the projects where fine on 27. This only started when we went to 28.

It's infuriating.

I found the problem to be caused by mutiple drawings linking to Sheet Index. If you have mutiple drawings linked to sheet index this problem occurs, and will corrupt your project. This problem is present in both Archicad 27 and Archicad 28.

Never mind, we might have two separate issues. For me, I don't get a spinning wheel. Mine just freezes, and then some of the panels start to flicker. It happens only on some layouts when I try to resize or move a view.

And I've found, at least with my issue. It's only on 28. If I backsave the file to 27. I can perform the same operation without flaw. While in 28 that same operation freezes the layouts time and time again.

For me, the problem occured because of the sheet index linking, affecting all others layout, making some layout freeze somewhat similar to what you describe. It is infuriating.

Guys thanks for the replies, these recommendations are very helpful, especially the part about the sheet index, will try to see if this helps in our case and will get back to you!
