Australian Model View Options

Hi, I am finding that in the Australian version of AC the model view options are very limited. Would I be better to switch to the international version when I next update? What are the main advantages of using the Australian version?

What is limiting about them?
Can you give any examples?

Both the AUS and the INT will be the same in what MVO options you have with exception to the section GDL options of library parts - this will be different depending on what library you have loaded.

If the schemes (combinations) do not do what you want then it is very easy to create or modify them - then use those in your views to get the effects you want.

If it is the options for GDL objects you find limiting then you can control those (create or modify options) if you know a bit about GDL scripting but that is not something that I would recommend unless you know how to script.

Hi Barry, You asked for some examples, the drawing on the left is what I would like my drawing to look like and the drawing on the right is the drawing I have with the model view and pen set as shown. It looks like I would have to do as you suggest and do some modifying, I just thought I could get things looking like the drawings in the graphisoft training videos with a click of a button. For example the dimensions come out purple with a blue tick mark.

Dimensions being purple with blue markers are not a Model View Option.
That is set in the dimension tool settings.

From the reference guide ...
Model View Options affect the on-screen and output display of construction elements, fills and zones, and certain GDL objects throughout the project.
So things like do you want walls to show there fill as a hatch, solid or no fill at all.
Do you want to see door and window frames or just openings and do you want to see the door an window markers.
Do you want to see just the beam reference line, the beam contour lines or both.
Etc., etc.

Pretty much you are just turning how you want certain elements to display and output on or off or overriding their style.

Things like colours, sizes, actual hatch patterns, etc. are controlled in the element settings.

Place some walls, doors and windows, fills, zones, beams, etc. in plan and open the MVO settings and have a play with them to see how they affect your plan.
