Dimension ala Rotate

Not to get into a heated debate of what is right or what is wrong, but I have stumble upon something that I hope that can be resolved in the future….I employer comes from an era of traditional drafting..ie hard knocks old school, we have a particular project that is driving him nuts over on the way our dimensions come out on angle wall…not having been involved in the reviews of the project, I was unaware my drafts people where going thru this dilemma, struggling to correct this….so I investigated…no can do…it’s stuck this way….so here goes…..

If I present as set of construction documents….in the US we read from right to left….generally the left sides of the drawings are bound…so why can’t I rotate my text this way….image include…..no matter what I do…I can’t get the text to rotate in this direction once I am passed a 90-180 mark…

Is right, is it wrong…I don’t know…but at least I should have the freedom to choose…

I think there is something wrong with AC here, because if you set on the text tool properties the text block angle to the amount of degrees you need, you get the desired result...

actually in order for me to get the desired results I have to explode the dimension element and when I rotate text I need a -angle, for example in my left hand example that text is at -255 when I move it...it will rotate back to angle I don't want...so the lock does not work

I seem to remember, when I was taught draughting (and that was a while ago too), that any text beyond the 90degree (vertical) angle should in fact be read from the bottom of the page. So your diagram showing "wrong" is actually "right".
It would be good to be able to do it both ways ofcourse, as conventions are different all over the world (and I'm hanging off the underside of the planet, so what would I know anyway?)
Might be worth a wish?

I have to agree with s2art, that the "Wrong" purple line looks correct to me, but there should be more of an option.... also useful if you rotate a plan 90 degrees on a sheet and want the dimensions to read correctly.

"Not to get into a heated debate of what is right or what is wrong"

Come on Rob, you know as CAD Manager you have repeat AT LEAST 3 or 4 times before anyone listens 😉

No need to explode the dimension.
You can just select the text node and then type in a new angle that is +/- 180° in the info box.
This will rotate the text - but unfortunately around the node - so it will now be in the wrong position.
Now when you move it the text will flip back around as it was (obviously a default setting in Archicad to read from the bottom or the right hand side).

So trick is to move it first and then rotate.
Seems you can then rebuild and move the dimension as a whole and the text will stay as you set it.
But don't move just the text again as it will flip back.
