Dimensions of non-vertical or horizontal items

Any reason why I suddenly can't dimension non vertical or horizontal plan items? My box for choosing this is greyed out and I can't select it. Some helpful AC17 feature, no doubt!

Can you show a screen shot of your dimension tool settings?
I can't think of anything that will turn that option off except when doing an elevation height dimension.

Screen shot of the situation. I need to add an angled dimension where shown.

I thought that was what you are looking at.
That is the 3D dimension tool.
You want the next button to the right - it will pop-out with the angle dimension option.

that is what I thought. But when I clicked it, nothing happened. I've just done it again and discovered that you've got to click in certain parts for it to work - at least with my mouse/keyboard.

Thanks for your help. Pretty basic isn't it - but it hadn't troubled me before.

You have to hold the mouse button for a short while for the pop-up to appear.
Just clicking will not do anything.
