I'm working in ArchiCad 29 and having a hard time modeling a particular door in a historic house. I've tried both the built-in library parts and the Cadimage library. I'm remodeling several historic houses in the same neighborhood all by the same architect, and this detail occurs in a lot of his houses. Every piece and part of it is different. I've dropped a picture below. The horizontal mullion is a different width and depth than the vertical mullions. The rails and stiles are ALL different dimensions (especially in the sidelites). And the transom has this weird combined center stile so the glass size matches the glass in the door.
I can't get all of these variables to work independently from one another in either the built-in library part or the cadimage parts. (Of course it doesn't help that the terminology they use doesn't match the names of anything in American carpentry, so I never know if I'm changing the thing I want to change or not!)
Any ideas on how to build out this door to accurately model the historic details? Should I break it apart into separate door and window units instead of trying to get it to all be one library part? Would love to hear if any of you more experienced modelers have thoughts on how to do this.

Hi @jd10003
You could try the Library Part Maker addon, it is not perfect but it is a good alternative to programming GDL objects.

Hi @jd10003 ,
You can also check out the video by @Eric Bobrow, regarding this topic.
I have found his explanation and workflow to work quite well in such cases:
Hope it helps 🙂
Cheers!

You could try modeling this assembly using the Curtain Wall tool. Every single frame segment in a Curtain Wall can be a different profile. You can also place Doors/Windows into the Curtain Wall as panels.
Please note that the Doors/Windows available as Curtain Wall panels are not as parametric as the usual Door/Window elements. So, it may also be possible that you model that whole thing expect the Door using the Curtain Wall tool, and you leave the place of the Door as an empty panel in the Curtain Wall. Then you can place a Wall into that empty place and fill it with a Door element that has all the parameters and option you need.

the Curtain Wall Tool just doesn't get enough love.
