Excact angle

Hi!

Is there any way to get the excact angle of an element in 2D in ArchiCAD? My problem is that if I use the measuring tool or the angle dimension tool I get the angle with one decimal, but I know for a fact that thats not accurate.

What I'm trying to do is to get the excact rotation of a model, so if anyone has any tips regarding this it would be most helpful.

You can reset the angle measure display accuracy to four decimal places (Options Menu > Project Preferences as I recall). This is the limit of the display accuracy which will still be rounding to the nearest ten thousandth of a degree. This is the best you can do for a measurement.

For rotating elements, if you snap to points it will be accurate to the limits of the internal precision of the program.

BTW: This discrepancy between rounding errors and the internal accuracy of the software is the cause of lots of problems. This is why it is always best to type in known or intended dimensions and also best to rationalize them to within a reasonable margin of error.

Thank you for your answer, that helped a lot.

I'm working as a BIM coordinator for a large contractor and we are trying to utilize the benefits of BIM.

We're using Solibri Model Checker to do collision checking and therefor the IFC format for exchanging files.

In this project the structural engineer rotated his model according to the projects north, but we agreed on not rotating the models for simplicity.

The structural engineer say it's a lot of work to rotate this model right, so therefor I'm trying to enter the right rotation in Solibri.

I guess it will work with this accuracy, but it is not ideal and I probably have to read through some errors caused by this.

I guess you can see the value of establishing the BIM implementation plan up front so these problems can be kept to a minimum. Project origin and rotation should be established up front and strictly adhered to by all participants.
