Grey color in wall

My existing wall has a grey fill that I created as a new Building Material. In layout view, the grey color becomes black instead of staying as grey.
How can I change the settings in layout so that I get my lines in black and white and the grey fill to stay as grey?

if i change the pen set colors to black and white, I don't get the grey fill color.
If i change the pen set colors to grey scale: it all becomes grey.

Is there a setting in the "Building Materials" or somewthere else that I need to do for this grey wall fill to stay as grey?

Black & White is purely the two colours with no gradient. If Greyscale is all grey, the colours of your selected pen set are too light, their luminescence value is all about the same. If you want black lines, they will need to be black in your selected pen set.

Set up an alternate pen set, where you control which pens become black and which remain grey or coloured.
Then use this pen set for the drawings in your layouts.
You then print as 'coloured' - but you are controlling the colours.

I imported the pen set from another project and somehow it messed up my color.
The top image is the view that's updated.
the bottom image is an older view---which is how I wanted my walls to be.

Pet set is selected with its name, and the colors is :black and white
Barry, the drawing is set to print in color.

I think it has to do with some settings, if somehow i can get the view to show up in black and white with grey being grey, like the bottom image, that would save me a lot of time. I opened other projects and made sure I have the same drawing settings, but the view still show up as black and white.

In this new pen set, grey is defined as grey, so i don't understand why it's not showing grey. it works in another project file.

EDIT: so I created a grey fill with 50% transparency, the grey fill shows up as grey. Which leads me to think that there is something wrong with my building material?
