Hi everyone,
I’m trying to import a keynote database into Archicad 28 using an Excel file using CSI Masterformat. While the keynotes import successfully, they don’t seem to nest correctly under the folders as intended.
I’ve read through Graphisoft’s guide on keynotes, but I’m still unsure about the exact structure the database needs to follow for the hierarchy to work properly.
Should the folders and keynotes be set up with specific identifiers, columns, or formatting in Excel to ensure nesting? Is it based on the 'Path' relationship or 'Reference' relationship defined in the column?
I’d appreciate it if someone could share a working example or clarify the steps to get the folder structure right!
Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi @tonyyy
Try to create a simple structure of Folders and Keynotes with different levels in Archicad and export it to xlsx format. Then you can open it in Excel and you will see the order of the columns and the hierarchy of the keynotes scheme (Type> Key> Title> Description> Reference> Path).
If there are several sublevels they do not need a extra header in the Excel file.
Check for duplicates and correct logic.
See the example below and the attached .xlsx file for reference.

Hi @Ricardo Lopez hope you are doing great!
I have been working exactly on this same process, and started with the same steps that you outlined. I created a simply folder structure in the keynotes inside Archicad, then exported this out to Excel, worked on the file there, and now want to import back but I am getting an error message when doing so:
I have checked my Excel file several times and I believe that it is all correct. I don't have any "empty spaces" except for the reference column where at this point in the development none of the entries have a specification reference or URL link. The reality is that not all of the lines will have this information, some of them will be empty. Would this be the problem of why I can't import the Excel file? Any other ideas? See below sample:
